Street Stories

For many years our local neighbourhood used to get together for Christmas drinks.

We all seemed to enjoy it year after year so a few years ago Edi and I suggested that we meet monthly as neighbours and offered our home for the purpose. The idea quickly caught on and the event began to rotate around homes on a simply BYO arrangement for both food and drinks to keep it light touch for the host. We have also developed a neighbourhood WhatsApp group for easy and fun communication.

With the advent of social isolation someone had the good idea of us all coming to the end of our driveways so that we could have street drinks in a fun but socially isolated way.

Everyone ended up staying out there for about an hour with lots of banter and stories. Collectively we have committed to doing it again to stay in touch.

From this Edi and I have had so many wonderful faith conversations with our local neighbours and developed a whole new set of friends. When we were in isolation these neighbours were bringing us food and checking in on us too.
