ASSEMBLE
The art of Kintsugi involves five steps. The first step is ‘Break’ and the second is ‘Assemble’. Assemble is when the artisan starts the reconstruction process using a form of traditional glue dusted with powdered gold, silver or platinum. Crossway Worship’s latest single, Mosaic, celebrates the way in which the great maker of all things lovingly binds up our broken pieces with glue that cost Him everything. A glue of scarlet blood.

How does a Creator
Who formed me so deliberately
Restore so delicately?
Making things new?
So exquisitely.
So sensitively.
So gracefully.
With skill.
He does it with the perfect binding agent.
A glue that holds each broken fragment in its place.
A glue that cost him everything.
A glue of scarlet blood.
My brokenness broke you too.
Restoration costs your lifeblood.
And yet you choose to continue.
Reconstruct me.
I’m not worthy.
But you say I’m worth it.
So I’ll trust your valuation.
Not the lies in my head.
Much like I was originally:
An infant needing form.
I now await renewal
As a new conception.
The Almighty who knows me.
Continue your rebuild.
Persist in my reassembly.
Let your precious blood restore.

It literally translates as being “joined with gold”.
