Faith Transfer
Introduction
The Bible shows us that faith has always been passed on from generation to generation. It can be through supernatural encounters, family generations, discipleship, or intentional storytelling. We are called to be intentional so that our children, friends, and those around us may know Christ and follow Him. Paul wrote to Timothy about the faith that lived in Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice, and now lives in him. The transmission of faith is both personal and generational; it is God’s design for making disciples of all nations.

Leaders: Choose questions that spark meaningful conversation and discern where God is leading—no need to answer them all.
- Read 2 Timothy 1:5. Paul highlights how Timothy’s faith was nurtured through the influence of others; in his case, family members. Who has been most influential in your own faith journey (whether a family member, friend, mentor, or someone else) and what impact did they make?
- Judges 2:10 describes a generation that did not know the Lord. Why do you think faith sometimes fails to transfer from one generation to the next? What’s the balance between personal choice and intentional discipleship in sharing faith with others?
- In Acts 9, Saul’s encounter with Jesus was supernatural. How have you seen or experienced God at work in ways that could only be described as supernatural? Why do you think God sometimes uses supernatural encounters, but other times works quietly through relationships?
- What are practical ways families (or spiritual families in church, such as Life Groups) can create an environment that nurtures faith in the next generation?
- In Acts 26, Paul shares his story of meeting Jesus. Why is telling your personal story such a powerful tool in transferring faith? How comfortable are you in sharing your testimony with others? What holds you back, and what could help you grow in confidence?
- Jesus said, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). How can our daily actions serve as a form of faith transfer to those around us? Think about your workplace, school, or neighbourhood. What kind of actions might show Christ’s love in those environments?
- In Philippians 4:9, Paul encourages believers to put into practice what they have learned, received, heard, and seen. What is one area of your life where you can be more intentional in modelling faith for others? Where in your life do you struggle to model faith?
Person of Peace
Faith transfer isn’t just about personal growth; it’s about passing on what we’ve learned and experienced to others. Is there someone that you could share your faith with?
Respond
As we reflect on how faith is passed from one generation to the next, let us commit to becoming intentional faith-builders in our families, friendships, and communities. This week, take time to identify at least one person, whether a child, friend, or younger believer, whom you can encourage in their walk with Christ. Share a personal story of how God has worked in your life, pray with them, or invite them to walk alongside you in a spiritual discipline such as reading Scripture or serving. Let your faith be visible, consistent, and rooted in love, so that others not only hear about Christ through you but also see Him lived out daily. Ask God to help you become His messenger.
