Each week for years, we’ve been going up to a local hill tribe community and meeting with a small group. Together we worship, pray, and do simple Bible studies. We also visit house-to-house and encourage people.

Our person of peace there is a woman named Jiruna. For years, she’s been reaching out to her family and sometimes her grandma would sit with us in worship. For two years, we prayed for her because she couldn’t get off the floor and was sick.

She started coming to Jiruna more and more, asking for prayer. As time went on, she started to see that when Jesus was prayed to, she would feel better. When she prayed to other gods, it didn’t happen like that. And so, earlier this year an amazing thing happened. She made the decision to follow Jesus only.

In Buddhism, there are things they do to give them ‘protection’, strings around their wrists, that they would leave until they fell off. Jiruna’s grandma actually cut those off, which is a big deal in her culture. She says, “I’m following Jesus now, and Jesus only.”

Since then she’s had no more of the aches and pains. God has healed her of those things. She’s coming along every week, praying with us. She has the Holy Spirit, and we can invite her to pray for us as well. She is growing in her own discipleship, and her faith that the Lord is alive and living in her.
