Romans 1-8

Paul writes to the Roman house churches in the aftermath of the riots that meant he had to escape from Ephesus to save his life. Having taken the gospel throughout the eastern Mediterranean he now looks to take it to the east and ultimately into Spain. With this in mind he looks to establish a base of operations in Rome.
He needs the church to be strong.

Paul writes to the church to encourage them that the gospel reveals God’s very real power to change people’s lives. He encourages them that whatever their faith background, Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice secures our salvation and our place in God’s family. He then writes with passion and conviction that God’s Spirit in our lives is the key to living in the full purposes of God for our lives. There is so much for us to learn from the Apostle’s insights and wisdom for life.
